[ translate ]

Yves Tanguy
1900 - 1955
Sans titre

signed YVES TANGUY and dated 47 (lower right)
gouache, decalcomanie, pencil on paper
47.9 by 31.6cm., 18⅞ by 12½in.
Framed: 57.5 by 42.2cm., 22⅝ by 16⅝in.
Executed in 1947.

Condition Report:
Executed on a sheet of greenish buff laid paper, laid down on a sheet of paper which has been taped to the mount at all four of its edges (the edges of the original sheet are still visible). The right, lower and left edges are slightly uneven and there are a few tiny nicks to parts of the extreme edges. There is a tiny repair to the centre of the extreme right edge and some tiny paint losses to some of the black pigments, only visible upon very close inspection and relating to some fine lines of craquelure. There is what appears to be a small accretion to the centre of the upper left quadrant, which is possibly part of the artist's process. This work is in overall good condition.

Provenance:
Joseph R. Shapiro, Oak Park (acquired by 1960)

Richard Feigen Gallery, Chicago (acquired after 1960)

Private Collection, Switzerland

Dieter Keller, Stuttgart (acquired in 1963. Sold: Sotheby’s London, 23rd October 1963, lot 108)

Sale: Loudmer Paris, 23rd November 1992, lot 41
