Title: Magnificent brutalist sculpture representing a bust of a naked woman, very typical Art Brut work.
Magnificent work, extremely decorative museum piece and an excellent investment.
very raw work desired by the artist we feel the fingers of the artist sculpting this sculpture.
This style was very avant-garde, she created these statuettes in the 60s, while this style became trendy in the years 2000-2010.
This artist never exhibited; she had her studio in the castle where she lived with her famous architect husband.
She made these statues for her pleasure without ever thinking of marketing them because her rich husband had decided so.
therefore we cannot find any auction results) I bought the complete production, of terracotta.
You will find everything exclusively on my catawiki.
Biography :
Yolande ide 92a from the town of De Haan a town on the Belgian coast.
1931- she still lives but hospitalized
Wife of Léon Ide, great architect of the commune of “De Haan”
In 1950 Yvonne Ide enrolled in courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in the city of Antwerp.
Then throughout her life she made magnificent terracotta sculptures secretly in her own small workshop in the large family house.
She lived in a wealthy environment, and had no need to sell a single piece. Her husband largely provided for the household.
She kept all her pieces secretly and never exposed them in broad daylight. As for these terracottas, she was keen to present slightly rounded women, very stylized in the 1960s and therefore very avant-garde in this style. But also some rare male works.
The works are magnificent, very raw
Her husband architect
Leon Ide settled in De Haan and largely determined the interwar architectural character of the seaside resort. He mainly designed Anglo-Norman and Flemish country style villas. He also designed sporadically in other coastal municipalities such as Bredene and Middelkerke. At Le Coq, in the 1930s he designed the “Astoria” and “Joli Bois” hotels and extensively renovated the “Grand Hôtel du Coq-sur-mer”, designed by Alfred Neirynck in 1889. He designed the town hall of the former municipality of Klemskerke
