Born in Damascus, Syria in 1953, Ziad Dalloul graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Damascus in 1977, where he received training from artist Ghayyath Al-Akhras, before moving to Paris in 1994 to pursue his studies at the École Nationale Supérieur des Beaux-Arts. His work is celebrated for his ability to infuse traditional subjects with a contemporary sensibility, creating pieces that resonate with universal themes of memory, identity, and existence.
