ZUMBACH JAN: (1915-1986) Polish-Swiss fighter ace of World War II who participated in the Battle of Britain. A.L.S., J Zumbach, one page, 4to, Bonnieres, 29th May 1974, to Mr. Francis. Zumbach thanks his correspondent for their letter and returns his signature, with his war squadron and rank appended as requested, as well as 'A B[attle] of B[ritain] story written by myself and printed ..on the 25th Anniversary of the said event. It was printed in French & English. I do hope it will be of interest to you'. Together with a second A.L., signed ('J. Zumbach') in the address panel to the upper left corner, one page, oblong 8vo, Bonnieres, 16th August 1974, to Mr. Francis, sending a story 'of a flight on Sept 9th 1940' and remarking 'the story in my handwriting was ready since a few months but I forgot to post it'. None of the enclosures mentioned in the letters are still present. Some slight creasing, otherwise VG, 2
