Zinc Horse Weather Vane

[ translate ]

Title: Zinc Horse Weather Vane
Provenance: Originally made and sold as accessories to go on copper lightning rods these weather vanes were used by farmers to see the direction of the wind, which would indicate the weather patterns. They came as pigs, cows, sheep, cars, even an ear of corn and horses, which we have here. So many were damaged by the weather, shot by ornery kids and just plain neglect. But this nice survivor caught our eye because it is in great original condition, no dents, holes or abuse, and with just the best, honest surface we seldom see in this type of vane although, where the horse attaches to the arrow it is slightly bent, but not enough for us to risk an attempt to straighten it. The vane comes with or without the rod or your option for us to cut the rod to your specified length for mounting on a stand. Measures 22" long with the horse 9" l. x 8" t. x 1" thick. The copper rod is 48" long.
