Zincite New Jersey, USA This interesting offering is a natural Zincite crystal. This gemmy mineral specimen represents a rare variety. Commonly, cut stones of this variety are actually man-made as a byproduct of Zinc metal extraction. This rare specimen hails from the top locality for the material: New Jersey. This fine example displays a rich reddish-orange hue with nice luster and has the quintessential pyramidal form. The name Zincite is derived from its principal component – Zinc. The specimen does weigh 12 grams (59.25 carats), making it quite dense for its relative size. The thumbnail specimen also glows under short-wave ultra violet light. Examples such as this are rather few and far between. Sadly, this material is predominantly utilized for industrial purposes, so specimens such as this one are seldomly seen. Overall Measurements: 0.96 x 0.64 x 0.47 inches (2.45 x 1.65 x 1.2 cm)
