Zsolnay Majolica Lotus Series Pink and Brown Ground Flower-Form Garden Seat
Circa 1891-95
Impressed uppercase mark and PECS, shape no. 3698, designed by Júlia Zsolnay
The seat modeled as a large yellow centered pink petaled lotus flowerhead, the bundled bamboo stem applied with similar flowers, on a circular bamboo coiled foot. Height 18 inches, diameter 14 inches.

Júlia Zsolnay (Hungarian 1856-1950) daughter of Vilmos Zsolnay, ceramic designer and painter.

Condition Report: appears to be in overall very good condition; restored chip to one leaf tip at the periphery of the seat, perhaps two; typical crazing to glaze; wear to high points, particularly to the top; firing line to one lotus blossom petal tip around the base (approx. 1/4 in.); hairline to the interior (approx. 3 in.), not visible on the exterior; examined under black light
