Zvi Shor (Shorr), Israeli, 1898, Sataniv, Ukraine ? 1979, Petah Tikva, Israel): Still Life, Oil on Board, c.1960s. Signed in Hebrew at the lower right. 18x14.5 inches.
Born in Sataniv, Ukraine, Zvi Shor (Zwi Shorr) in 1920 escaped from Petliura pogroms to Bessarabia, became one of the founders of He-Halutz branch, and in 1921 immigrated to Eretz Israel where settled first in Haifa, then near Petah Tikvah.
In 1936-38 he lived and worked in Paris, with masters of Ecole de Paris including Chaim Soutine, and Yankel Adler.
Founder of the Petach Tikvah Museum of Art first art classes, Shor is considered the Petah Tikvah?s patron artist.
In 1996, the Museum Yad Lebanim in Petach Tikvah has its wing named a Zvi Shor Department of Art. Exhibitions.
