This original Benjamin Franklin related Staffordshire Child's Plate measures about 6.5" in diameter. It has a strong brown central transfer illustration showing men working chopping down a tree and mining with a pick axe. The legends surrounding the image reads: "Dr. Franklin's Maxims / Handle your tool without mittens remember the cat in gloves catches no mice / Constant dropping wears away stones & little strokes fall great Oaks".
