c1820 Newcastle Pink Lustreware Hunting Scene Jug by Fell

An unusual and attractive early Sunderland pottery pink lustreware jug in good clean condition.
Dating from the early 19th century, it is similar to the more often seen Sunderland pink lustre on white pottery, except the the base colour is more buff than cream. It is a moulded shape with raised decoration and a hunting scene of riders chasing a deer. The handle is particularly decorative, in the shape of a Caryatid or winged woman. The colours are green with lustre pink and copper.
The shape and decoration is the same as an example on page 47, in Michael Gibson's '19th Century Lustreware' (ISBN 1851493069), which he believes to be by Thomas Fell, St Peter's Pottery, Newcastle c1820.
