A very nicely painted portrait oil on board of a young woman, in an early to mid-19th century style of dress and wearing a Swiss painted on porcelain Brooch of a boy with a St Bernard dog.
Her dark dress contrasts with a white lace collar and brooch. The picture is framed and glazed. The frame is in a rosewood style lacquer finish. Condition is very good. Unfortunately, the painting is not signed. On the reverse is the framer’s details of Charles H. West, of Finchley Rd, Hampstead.
The painting was bought together with the actual Swiss 18 carat gold and painted porcelain brooch. We are listing the brooch as a separate lot on our website.
