[ translate ]

Up for auction is a highly collectible antique c. 1900 Huntley & Palmers "Library" figural biscuit tin, a premier example of Edwardian trompe-l'œil packaging designed in Reading, England, to resemble a stack of eight leather-bound books secured by a faux buckled strap. This investment-grade piece remains in very good antique condition, boasting vibrant red and gold lithography across its intricate Celtic knotwork side panels and distinct spine titles (including History of Reading and Cakes). Structurally excellent with its original hinged lid fully intact and smooth-operating, the tin shows no major dents or warping, exhibiting only typical 120-year age patina, minor surface scratching, and characteristic light spotting on its gold-toned "page" side. Measures 6.25 inches high, 6.25 inches wide, 4.75 inches deep.
