c1970 Artwork Elisa & King from Christian Andersen Wild Swans

A beautifully mounted, framed and glazed original gouache artwork for the fairy tale story ‘The Wild Swans’.
The Wild Swans is a literary story by Hans Christian Andersen about a princess who rescues her eleven brothers from a spell cast by their evil stepmother queen. The tale was first published on 2 October 1838, in Andersen's Fairy Tales Told for Children by C. A. Reitzel in Copenhagen, Denmark. It has been adapted to various media including ballet, television, and film.
The image shows Princess Elisa having been saved from burning at the stake, by her 11 brothers, who she has managed to save from being turned into swans, sitting on the throne next to the king. He has proposed to her and is the final scene of the story. The courtiers, including the nasty archbishop are all paying homage to her. The painting is not signed, but by the style looks like it was done in the 1970s. Condition is extremely good and the painting has been beautifully framed.
