Lot details

Reg. No: Un-registered
Frame No: TX130 DGM101620M
Engine No: Not visible
CC: 50CC
MOT: Exempt

From a deceased estate Rare Chopper TX130 model Looks to be quite original The most outlandish bike from the sports moped era

Fantic is a relatively young Italian company that began producing bikes in 1968. They have always had a reputation for making unusual models, non more so than the 50cc TX130 Chopper that must be the most outlandishly styed bike from the sports mpoed era. When launced in 1972 it offered 16 year olds a taste of the 'Easyrider' lifestyle with its extended forks, ape bars, peanut pertol tank and tall backrest although it cost almost twice as much as a FS1E in the day.

This c1980 example is the later model with fixed footrest rather than the earlier bikes pedals needed to comply with the moped regulations up to 1977. It appears to have been sold first in Germany and comes with a 'Betriebserlaubnis erteilt' (Operating permit) document dated 20-08-80. Part of a deceased estate it has not run for a number of years but the engine turns over on the kickstart with compression and looks to be quite original. Would make a very rare and interesting restoration project.
