A large Medieval corbel carved from Volvic lave stone, depicting a women with bulbous cheeks and wide opened mouth, wearing a gorget-type headdress. To the back of the corbel, there are traces of wrought iron dowels to each side. Lower Auvergne. Late 13th/early 14th century. Dimensions: height (with stand) 42cm ; height (of the corbel measured to the front) 25cm ; length 29cm ; width 21,5cm Mounted on a custom made metal stand.
