Magnificent Fragment of a Saùng-Gauk, a Burmese Harp from the Mandalay period, 19th century, Burma Dimensions, including the stand: 54 cm x 80 cm x 16 cm. This arched harp, richly decorated, previously had 13 strings in twisted silk. Often played to accompany songs, these instruments originate from ancient India and represent one of the most ancient harp traditions that survived. With magnificent details finished off with red and black lacquer, inlays of glass jewels and gold foil. Authentic. Sent with a certificate of authenticity. Fragment, several lacks, breaks, cracks.
