the lacquer figure with some chips in the carving, some flakes and losses to the lacquer, with a few small scattered breaks and losses, including to one hand, to a carved detail from the hat to the shoulder, to two dragon horns or ears and lacking the panel of wood that originally fit in the back; the soapstone figure with cracks around the front two legs, just above the feet, with some scattered fissures in the stone, with an old break and loss to the base, next to the attendant; the three carvings with possible scattered chips, including the ax with some chips to the edge of the blade
