MIHAI ANTONESCU PRESENTATION BOOK TO ADOLF HITLER
MIHAI ANTONESCU (1904 - 1946) Romanian politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister during World War II. Antonescu approved the slaughter of Jews in Bessarabia and Bukovina, and the deportation of the survivors to concentration camps in Transnistria. Found guilty of war crimes. He was executed by a firing squad. ANTONESCU PRESENTS ADOLF HILTER WITH HIS BOUND SPEECH PRAISING HITLER Leather-bound edition of Antonescu's radio speech broadcast in Bucharest on April 20, 1941 'On Adolf Hitler's birthday - a holiday of the German people', 31 gold-edged pages, 7.5 x 10 in. with maroon suede covers embellished with an NSDAP eagle and Hitler's name on the front cover. This special printing bears text in German with an eagle and Hitler's name on the paper cover within, a Hoffmann frontis portrait of Hitler, and a quote from 'Mein Kampf'. The content, of course, thoroughly praises Hitler in every respect. The front flyleaf bears a long, handwritten and signed ink dedication by Antonescu praising Hitler: '...[from a] Romanian filled with confidence in the justice he will bring to the people...' Light brown hinged presentation case, damaged at the edge with eagle decoration on the top, two of the stepped feet are missing, one loose. Book and case with a silk moire lining. A fine association piece. With several photographs.
