orafo veneziano - 18 kt. Gold - Brooch - 2.00 ct Topaz - Diamond, Ruby

[ translate ]

This one-of-a-kind brooch was designed and made by hand in 1964, in the workshop in Venice, by the master goldsmith Francesco (Franco) De Cal to enhance an antique droplet cut topaz and two more stones, a small diamond and a very small ruby, antique cut, already owned by a customer/friend. The yellowish gold topaz (12 x 8 mm - approx. 2 ct) is hanging in the centre to highlight the shape and the light and to make it stand out, in the transparency, a small red triangular inclusion that the artist considered to be its 'heart'. This small inclusion can clearly be seen in photos 8 (2) and 10 (2) of the back of the brooch. In the other photos, under direct light, it seems to multiply with the most vivid reflections. The diamond has no inclusions, and measures approx. 5 mm. The ruby is faceted and measures approx. 3 mm. This item of jewellery, whether hung on a velvet ribbon or a gold chain, has been and can be worn as a pendant to create an eye-catching neckline. The item of jewellery is not signed; there was a preparatory drawing signed and donated by the artist that has been lost over time.
