Cassis Cornuta, commonly known as "Horned Helmet", is a marine gastropod mollusc of the Cassidae family and the name can be deduced from the shape of this wonderful shell which has spines on the edges. The lower part of the shell where the opening is is orange. This species occurs in the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, off the coast of southern Africa and in the Pacific Ocean. Cassis Cornuta is found on the sand or together with coral debris, very often even near the coral reef.
Melo is a genus of very large sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs of the family Volutidae, the volutes. Because of their huge ovate shells, these snails are often known as "bailers" (the shells were sometimes used to save canoes) or "melons" (because the shell resembles that fruit) .
Mounted on metal-effect pedestals they become precious objects in any cabinet of wonders.
Happy bidding.
