tribal Qashqaï room carpet, 210 x 164 cm early 3rd quarter 20th century, handmade for personal use by tribal nomadic Khamseh knotter living in the Qashqaï area in the province of Fars in southwestern Iran The carpet is in good, used condition with an even medium to low pile of very soft resistant wool with some spots of light wear Original sides complete and intact except for 1 spot with wear and with the original multi-coloured wool lining in fair to good condition Both head ends are original and complete with remnants of the original closing kilim retained and some wear to the fixed finish Traditional "Khamseh chicken" drawing is in saturated, cheerful, warm colors drawn mainly from natural dyes Smooth texture Free of restorations The carpet has been cleaned and is ready for use
