By Autographs) SHAARA, Michael
8 1/2 X 11 Inches. Rare TLS (Typed Letter Signed) from Pulitzer Prize winning author Michael Shaara. Letter on author's personal "Tallahassee" stationery. Shaara was a lifetime writer, but consistently struggled with the page. and publishers apparently. As time would tell, he had but one truly great book in him, although he dreamed of an autobiographical Shakespeare novel that would top "The Killer Angels". Interestingly, Shaara also wrote the book "For the Love of the Game", later published and adapted to the Kevin Costner film of the same name. The Killer Angels was Shaara's Pulitzer Prize winner and is most certainly the book he is remembered for. In part, "Please excuse me for taking so long to answer your letter. First, I was out of the country and then when I go back I was sick for a while - one problem was drugs, overdose after a motorcycle accident." Boldly signed at the conclusion in blue ink. A very candid conversational letter in classic Shaara style.
