Stanford's New Map of the County of London (1905)

A stunning set of Stanford's 4 inch maps of London complete in 5 sheets and contained in their original leather 'Book' box. Published as 20 sheets this set has been mounted by Stanfords in 5 sheets : four standard sheet (NE,NW,SE,SW) are 15 panels c.3' x 2.5' and a fifth ('East') 21 panels c.2' x 4' in a vertical format with title etc to head. Condition is exceptional with the maps having been kept in their 'book box' from new - no marking or spotting, colours very bright, linen backing undamaged. All fold into marbled card covers which have a just a little rubbing. The leather box is very worn to flaps and hinges which are partially detaching. One of the finest maps of London ever produced at the time, this is a very rare chance to obtain a complete example in fine condition. UK postage £20.00
