Provenance: With The Fine Art Society, London, by 1957 [no.6399].; Private Collection, UK. Note: Le Cave (sometimes La Cave) was in England from at least 1789 until 1812, and painted many views of Berkshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Worcestershire, Devonshire and the area around Leeds. He was a friend of Julius Ceasar Ibbetson (1759-1817) and an assistant to George Morland (1763-1804), both of whose influence is recognisable in the present work.
