Important Antique Hand Painted Botanical Book
19th century. Volume arranged and mounted by Aug. Toedteberg of Brooklyn, New York. The book's title page is signed by Mr. Toedteberg who is found to have lived at 274 Vanderbilt Ave in Brooklyn. Toedteberg passed away in 1909. It is possible that he assembled these works for Augustin Daly, a theater producer and avid collector whose papers are at Folger Shakespeare Library, Smithsonian Washington DC and for whom Todetenberg illustrated and assembled many of Daily's collections. The volume is in very well preserved and cared for condition as is. H12 1/4" W10 3/4" Sold from the collection of a private Southern Scholar.
