by the Barnards, London 1850,
rectangular form, heavy scroll border, with two pen wells, and with two silver-mounted glass inkwells and with a central foliate taper stick, on four scroll bracket feet, engraved with a crest and inscribed 'Presented to Robert Cottle Esq. as a token of respect and esteem from his friends in Fleet Street, A.D 1851', length 26.8cm, approx. weight 24.7oz.
The crest is that of Leverton, Purslow and Warrender.
