Egyptian Cartonnage Foot Covering with Feet and Lotus
Ptolemaic-Roman Period, 332 BC-323 AD. A cartonnage panel from the underfeet of a cartonnage mummy case, roughly rectangular in plan, painted with the stylised outline of two shoes, a lotus flower between, vibrant polychrome painted geometric detailing to the soles and flower, one remaining edge of geometric border composed of square segments, set against a dark red background; the reverse professionally strengthened and backed; held in a modern frame.
