A rare Khula khud
dating: 17th/18th Century provenance: India Moghul, Iron, hemispherical skull, top with a stud shaped as a truncated cone, a plume-holder in the center, base with a riveted band, decorated as a stud with fine Moghul decorations with floral motifs in gold, under the top on the front part a brass small shield, under the nosepiece, upper part in a shape of a convex mango with lowered and pierced border, lower part in a shape of a leave (probably of Bhallalaatak tree, in Hindu, or walnut tree - Semecarpus anacardi). Two lateral plume-holders. Mail neck-defense made up of small rings with riveted latch (riveted), provided with three fringes (parts missing). Helmet was restored during the time of use, a small hole on the left side may have been caused by an arrow. height 48 cm.
