Dwi Martono (b. Kebumen, C. Java, 1966) Grateful

Dwi Martono often paints the suffering of common people, often accentuating them using distortions. The elongated body of the man depicted in this painting, hides parts of the kitchen ware he uses, but at the same time draws the viewer’s attention to them as well. Here he seems to portray the man praising god almighty for the food that is cooking in his kitchen, by kissing the ground.
