Raised in 1859 in London drawing its members from artists, musicians and actors. In 1880 it became the 20th Middlesex (Artists') Rifle Volunteer Corps and in 1908 it became the 28th (County of London) Battalion of the London Regiment. In 1947 it became the 21st Special Air Service Regiment (Artists Rifles).
