The untitled portrait of an Hispanic Goat Herder wearing woven leather sandals is signed lower left and dated '40. Gantt studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, first under Ross Braught and then Thomas Hart Benton who was instructor there from 1935 to 1941.
Board measures 22 x 26 with a framed size of 24.5 x 28.5 inches.
Provenance: The artist's family by descent.
