J.A. Grand-Carteret - 'Portrait of the jeune femme dénudee'
Beautifully subdued portrait of half-naked lady in pastel on paper, framed behind glass in a contemporary frame (which has been polished again by a skilled frame maker, and therefore looks like new again) . Unmistakably from the French Art Deco period. In addition to the artist's characteristic elegant vertical signature with date ('28) , the frame also has an original business card of the same maker. Therefore, a desirable work of art, slightly erotic in nature, with a personal note from the artist. * Jean Albert Grand-Carteret (1903-1954) was a French painter, and grandson of John Grand-Carteret - a well-known French journalist and historian. Jean Albert Grand-Carteret mainly painted nudes, portraits and preferably in pastel paint. He was a pupil of Adler and Lucien Simon and exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français and at the Indépendants, in Paris.
