A LARGE IMPERIAL ART NOUVEAU KOVSH FROM TSARSKOJE SELO

On the front is written: "A la reine du Tango Mlle Chrysis en souvenir de la soiree du 19 Janvier 1914 passee chez les Tirailleurs de la Famille Imperiale a Tzarskoe Selo." Translated into English "To the Tango Queen Miss Chrysis in memory of the evening of January 19, 1914, which she spent with the tirailleurs of the Imperial family in Tsarskoye Selo". Tirailleurs (= riflemen) were infantrymen and belonged to the Imperial Family Rifle Regiment in Tsarskoje Selo. The participants of this evening are listed by name on the back of the Kovsh. Verified are G. Nef (1880-1950), Leonid I. Kulnew (1882-1967), Baron Ivan A. von Prittwitz (1887-1914), Prince Dmitry P. Svyatopolk-Mirsky (1890-1939), Prince Sergei M. Putyatin (1893-1966) and Count Alexander A. Musin-Pushkin ( 1855 - 1918 ).
