French Empire Collas Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock

French Empire gilt bronze mantel clock, first quarter 19th century, the fluted shield-form case with beaded details and surmounted with armillary sphere finial, round glazed door opens to reveal an eight day 'time and strike' movement, the white enamel dial signed "Collas à Paris", raised on tapered socle above a square plinth base on ball feet with motifs of swans flanking a palmette. 15.75” H x 5.75” W x 4.75” D. Lacking key and pendulum. Note: In 1838, Achille Collas (1795-1859) joined with Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) to create "Société Collas et Barbedienne" won medals for their designs at the Great Exhibition London (1851) and Exposition Universelle Paris (1855).
