A pair of George III Irish silver candle snuffers.

A pair of George III Irish silver candle snuffers, of scissor action form with pierced stems, and engraved foliate motifs with stippled borders to the chamber, raised on three ball feet. Hallmarked John Stoyte, Dublin 1791. Length 6.5" (16.5cm), gross weight 3.43 ozt (106.7 grams).

Condition Report:
- With inset steel section.
- The whole displaying general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Heavier wear and scratched marks to some areas and numerous surface nicks and pitting type marks throughout.
- Some surface cracks in the metal of some areas, including bottom edge of chamber and also to pierced stems.
- Break and possible repairs at join of pierced stem to the central circular disc. Small holes around the central fixed button of disc.
- Further small repairs likely to some parts.
- Scissor action appears in good working order.
- Surface rubbing causing some loss of detail to areas of engraved decoration.
- Hallmarks located to interior of the chamber, these rubbed and worn in parts but all legible.
- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
