Regt.-) contemporarily engraved naming, plugged and fitted with a Crimea-style suspension, edge bruising and contact marks, nearly very fine (2) £200-£240---George Newman was born in Stocking Pelham, Hertfordshire, and attested for the 46th (South Devonshire) Regiment of Foot at Halstead, Essex, on 23 November 1846. He served with the Regiment overseas in the Crimea for 1 year and 7 months, in Corfu for 2 years and 5 months, and in India from 9 years and 1 month.
