Two Vases, Jean Luce
Jean Luce
Two Vases
circa 1930
etched opaline glass
each monogrammed JL
larger vase: 7 ½ in. (19 cm) high, 3 ½ in. (8.9 cm) diameter
Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. The sculptural glass surfaces present with great variety of surface treatments and geometric forms that are typical of Luce's practice as a glassmaker. The glass presents with a few minor air bubbles and particulate inclusions which are inherent to production and not visually distracting. The glass with scattered faint surface scratches, extremely minute pinholes and scuffing throughout as well as flecks concentrated to the edges and consistent with gentle handling. One slightly more pronounced fleck to the rim of one vase measuring approximately 1/8 inch wide and not visually distracting.
Provenance:
Laurent Negro, Château de Gourdon, France
Christie's Paris, Les Collections du Château de Gourdon, June 29, 2011, lots 57 and 169
