Pre-columbian Vera Cruz Sonriente Pottery Figure | Hand sculpted Sonriente figure from the Vera Cruz (Remojadas) region of Mexico. Shows remnants of original paint. Depicts a standing male with both arms raised, having an expressive face; smiling with exposed teeth and almond shaped eyes. Adorned with circular ear spools and a necklace of graduated disk beads, with a tall headwrap / headress. Dressed with a decorated fabric band across the chest and a skirt / loincloth with relief carved geometric designs representing the patterns of woven textiles. Head has been reattached, arms repaired, otherwise intact original condition. Approx. Size: 7.5" H x 5.5" W | Provenance: From a prominent Florida Ethnographic Collection.
