Feminine statuette from Poro Senufo ethnic group, Ivory Coast First half of the 20th century Wood Height: 36 cm - Length: 9 cm - Thickness: 10 cm (damage) She sits on a large circular stool resting on four feet. Her umbilicus is strongly marked, underlined by star-shaped scarification, her hands with individualized fingers rest on her generous hips. Her back is arched, her chest drooping, in strong relief and incised with long vertical scarification. As ornaments she wears two bracelets on each arm and a necklace. Her face corresponds to the Senufo stylistic code: a tapered and prominent chin, a small mouth open on short teeth, a long nose opening on two eyebrow arches, tapered almond-shaped eyes and two small dot ears. Her hairstyle is drawn in incisions and her skull is topped with the primordial bird: the hornbill.
