Painted in underglaze cobalt, polychrome enamels and gilt with a central roundel containing a kirin, and a fan-shaped roundel with immortals in a landscape; shaped panels with a phoenix; and birds and flowers; the background painted with scrolling vines and flowers in either red iron oxide or cobalt, the underside of the rim with a nyoi-head band and the ring foot with coiling vines surrounded with a lappet band, with three spur marks, signed on the underside Dai Nihon Kajitomo tsukuru (Made by Kajitomo of Great Japan)
