Luristan Forged Bronze Spearheads (pr)

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A pair of forged-bronze spearheads of slender petaloid forms with narrow tangs extending out from beneath the protruding fins. One spearhead features a visible midrib above diamond-shaped fins, and the other has a flush, bar-shaped midrib above rounded fins. Both weapons are covered in layers of green and light brown patina. Size of largest: 6.75" L x 1.25" W (17.1 cm x 3.2 cm)

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired before 2000

Condition Report: Both pieces have nicks along blade edges created in modern times, smooth encrustations, and slight bending to overall forms, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina and very light earthen deposits throughout.
