This Japanese Yuto for containing and pouring water for the cleansing process. The main body, spout and handle profusely decorated in golden leaves and trailing stems. The end of the spout, inner lid and main opening of the body have a gold line running around them. The base and inside are simple and black striking a contrast to the outer profuse decoration. The lacquer is in good condition with the exception of two places on the lid. Half a centimetre nick near inner gold circle. Second surface loss to outer rim of lid circa 2cms. Otherwise in good condition. This beautiful handsome object would be a good addition to a collector of Japanese lacquer from the Meiji era.
