Description: Chinese late Ming dynasty Wanli period Zhangzhou (Swatow) porcelain deep dish decorated in underglaze blue on a white ground with a roundel at the center holding a phoenix bird standing under trees in a garden setting. A thick border of six floral panels reserved on a fish scale background surrounds the rim. Typical sand grit to the base. 16th/17th century.
Measurements: 10 3/4 diameter x 1 7/8 high
Condition: Very good overall condition. There is a tiny professionally restored chip to the rim that is not visible to the eye.
Provenance: From the Arizona collection of German expatriates to Indonesia in the 1970s.
