A William & Mary carved giltwood wall mirror, circa 1690, the frame of Sunderland type, the rectangular plate within a scrolling foliage and acorn frame, crested by a William & Mary cypher, 64cm high, 48cm wideCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits and chips. Some old glued repairs to frame. The upper section of the central cresting is a later element carved to match. Mirror has an old re-gild. Gilt surface with the expected rubbing, chips and losses. Evidence of old worm. Later supporting brackets to the corners of the back. Some vacant screw holes to the back from previous fixtures. Backboard is a later replacement. Mirror plate has significant age and the expected depletion and grey spots. It is likely an 18th century replacement.
