A bone-inlaid wheellock puffer, Nuremberg, circa 1580

Octagonal, after girdle smooth and round barrel in 12 mm calibre with reinforced muzzle. Nuremberg acceptance mark and other unknown mark at the breech. Wheellock with engraved hammer. External wheel with spring-loaded pan cover, release button and safety lever. Spur mark struck on the lockplate. Light-coloured walnut stock profusely decorated with engraved and blackened bone inlays in the form of stripes and hop blossoms. On the compressed ball pommel a blossom-shaped bone inlay. Original wooden ramrod with iron thread and engraved bone tip. Two small inlays replaced behind the barrel. Length 46 cm.Condition: II
