Toshiko Takaezu (1922-2011) was a Japanese-American ceramicist best known for the closed form vessels with bold organic glazes. She studied at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and later trained new generations of students there as well. Her work combines a mid century aesthetic with traditional Japanese ethos.
