Late 17th - Early 18th c. English Red and Gilt Chinoiserie Decorated Two-Part Chest on Stand, with japanned surface depicting images of figures in Asian landscapes, top section with overhanging molded cornice, three short top drawers above three graduated wide drawers, etched brass drop bail pulls and escutcheons, base section with molded edge top over a narrow central drawer flanked by two deep drawers, shaped apron, supported by six turned legs, shaped flattened stretchers and ball form feet, with two keys (do not operate locks, but work as pulls for top and central bottom drawers, 61" high, 40 1/2" x 20 1/2". Surface wear, paint losses. Provenance: From the Searle Estate, Brunswick, ME.
