Three late 19th / early 20th century miniature portraits by Caroline Pennoyer DeWitt (b. 1859, Virginia and Rhode Island), each in brass frame, each signed along side "Caroline P. deWitt": 1. Young woman wearing necklaces and an off-shoulder garment, dated 1897 on paper inside frame; 3 1/8"W x 4 1/2"H overall---2. Woman with gray hair, wearing a shawl with rose at bodice, dated April 1914 on paper inside frame; 3"W x 4 1/2"H overall---3. Woman with gray hair, wearing pearl earrings and a ruffled collar; 2 7/8"W x 4 1/8"H overall---all in good condition---DeWitt was known for painting portrait miniatures. According to 1917 "American Art Annual", she was a pupil of Frederick Rondel in New York and C. Henry Heath in London. (Ref. MP-12, MP-14, MP-15)
