Inscribed along the right edge "Presented to Mr. Rongjie (Wing-tsit). 1939, Li Fenggong wrote [this] in Hong Kong" Two red seals along the right edge; there is additionally one seal mark along the lower left. Signed along the exterior edge of the scroll.
This painting is from the collection of Professor Wing-tsit Chan (1901-1994), an influential scholar of Chinese philosophy and religion, who throughout his career taught at Dartmouth, Columbia, Lingnan University, the University of Hawai'i, and Chatham University.
