RARE MIGRATION PERIOD ANTI-CAVALRY TWISTED SPEAR
C. 600 AD. Migration Period. Iron anti-cavalry period with very long twisted iron shank terminating in a point at one end, and an openwork basket handle at the other end. These spears were used during the migration period, when cavalry became particularly important, as anti-horse devices capable of stopping a foe's steed dead in its tracks. Good condition. Size: L:1080mm; 636g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery, previously in old British collection formed in the 1980s.
